Urban mobility summit, organized in Berlin

On 15 and 16 March will take place, in Berlin, City Car Summit 2016, an international event where engineers and executives from traditional and electric car industry discuss emerging services and technologies for urban mobility, forum organizers said.

Automotive manufacturers and component suppliers have entered a race to reinvent the automobile and business models to remain relevant to new generations of consumers who do not consider owning a car is necessary or prestigious.

In the two days leading experts on urban mobility innovation will share their ideas about:

  • Demographic, social, cultural and technological trends which are driving change in mobility demand;
  • Vehicle design so that are optimized for urban and multi-modal applications;
  • Integration of game-changing technologies such as highly automated driving, wireless charging, advanced new materials, smart parking.

The agenda of the two-day event comprises lectures from both the representatives of startups with consistent funding in hardware and software for mobility and car-sharing, such as urbi +, DriveNow or Vulog, and of executives from well-established corporations (Xerox, BMW Group, Daimler AG).

Among the specific topics that will be dealt with in two days of talks are platforms and interfaces for mobility, concepts of two and three-wheel vehicles, highly automated urban vehicles, ergonomics and integrating different transport modes.
