Romanian companies will be able to obtain financing of up to 15 million euros for investments in battery storage capacities, through a state aid scheme financed from European funds through the Modernization Fund.
The state aid scheme regarding the support of investments in the development of autonomous (stand-alone) battery storage facilities for electricity, with financing from the Modernization Fund, was approved by Order of the Ministry of Energy 745/2026, published on Monday in the Official Gazette.
The total estimated budget of the scheme is the equivalent in lei of the amount of 150,000,000 euros and represents non-refundable amounts from the Modernization Fund.
The maximum aid that can be granted cannot exceed 15,000,000 euros per company. The aid is granted in the form of non-reimbursable financing by reimbursing eligible expenses incurred, within the maximum intensity of state aid established by this scheme.
The scheme is based on a competitive bidding procedure. The maximum intensity of state aid cannot exceed 100% of the total eligible costs of the projects benefiting from support.
The maximum amount of state aid granted cannot exceed the amount of 69,000 euro/MWh of installed storage.
