Transelectrica announces that it “operates the National Electric Power System (SEN) under difficult conditions, with the priority of maintaining operational safety”, according to a press release stating that the network is managed “so that there is no risk of a major breakdown”.
“In the context of the exceptional conditions generated by the severe drought, which affects the National Electric Power System, as well as the electric power systems in the region, in an unprecedented manner from an operational perspective, the National Electricity Transmission Company Transelectrica SA maintains the safe operation of the National Electric Power System, by applying the necessary operational measures, permanent monitoring of operating parameters, real-time coordination of the system and continuous collaboration with all relevant institutions and entities involved, as well as with all transmission and system operators in the region and in Europe”, the company reports.
“Despite the operational stress to which the National Power System is subjected, under the current conditions, the current level of risk regarding the safe operation of the system and the continuity of the electricity supply is managed in such a way that there is no risk of a major breakdown. Voluntary responsible consumption measures have already demonstrated their efficiency in maintaining the balance of the National Power System in recent days and remain important for supporting its stability in the coming period,” Transelectrica officials say.
Through the National Power Dispatcher, Transelectrica permanently monitors the evolution of electricity consumption and production, the production-consumption balance, system frequency, voltage levels, power flows, cross-border exchanges and available operational reserves, using all resources and operating tools, including import capacities, to maintain the safe operation of the National Power System.
“To ensure the continuity of electricity supply, the available production and storage capacities, the possibilities of import and cross-border exchange, as well as the reserves intended to manage such situations are fully utilized.
