Centralized trading platforms for energy and energy resources can contribute to the transparency of the energy sector, said Ștefan Sabău, general director of BRM East Energy Republic of Moldova, during the “Regional Approach – Chisinau” conference, organized by Energynomics.

“Now that the Republic of Moldova has the status of a candidate country for the EU, one of the necessary reforms is also in the field of anti-corruption and the creation of a centralized trading market has the potential to eliminate many of the potential suspicions of corruption that may hang over some operators “, said Sabău.

The Romanian Commodities Exchange (BRM), the oldest private operator of centralized commodity trading markets in Romania, established this year in the Republic of Moldova an energy resources trading platform similar to the one in Bucharest.

The creation of an exchange platform offers Chisinau the opportunity to ensure energy transactions in a transparent and fair system for public authorities and companies that will use BRM services.

“We want to develop in the Republic of Moldova a platform similar to the one in Romania for transactions with gas, energy, oil products and fuel. Such a centralized trading tool is crucial because it ensures transparency, and competition and drives reforms. We decided to establish this company also to support the economic system of the country through taxes and jobs,” he said.

BRM is trying to strengthen its position in the region and earlier this year signed an agreement with Athens Exchange Group for the provision of post-trade services on the natural gas futures market in Romania, traded through the BRM platform.

The conference „Regional Approach Chișinău” was organized by Energynomics with the support of our partners: BRM East Energy MD, Huawei, Kawasaki Gas Turbine Europe, Schneider Electric, Transelectrica, and Transgaz.
