SAS started operating more than 40 years ago in the US, focusing exclusively on the data analysis area. “That’s what we do best and we manage to use the data to support decision making. We have extensive experience in various fields, and central and local authorities are very well represented in our customer portfolio”, said Stefan Baciu, Country Manager, SAS Romania & Moldova, at the “Smart cities – efficient buildings, green infrastructure, digitalization” conference, organized by Energynomics.

“Our approach to Smart City is a holistic one covering multiple topics – from public safety to resource management, transportation, healthcare, utility area. We all know that the data sources and data volumes increased at impressive levels are very diverse. The important thing is to be able to get as much information as possible for decision-making support and forecasts and estimates as close to reality as possible. Now, based on the technological advance of recent years, we can do that.”

“The value brought by an analytics-based approach speaks for itself: we can base our decisions on information and not on assumptions, we can improve the services offered to citizens and reduce costs, projecting the future with much greater accuracy,” he added.

Smart cities’ analyzes can find their use in very diverse areas, from one-off approaches to traffic management, to the tax area, to communication with citizens and medical practice.

“For example, we can optimize transport through approaches to data and information analysis. We can collect data from very diverse sources, from various systems. We can thus increase the satisfaction of citizens who use these services and provide decision-making support for authorities in their plans and projections so that they reflect the more true reality of the future,” Baciu said, giving some examples through case studies.

The conference “Smart cities – efficient buildings, green infrastructure, digitalization” was organized by Energynomics, with the support of our partners ABB, ACE Industrial Software, Bjorn Heizung, Claritech, Eaton, EnergoBit, Horvath & Partners, SAS România & Moldova, Wiren.

More than 240 people registered on MyConnector platform to participate in the dialogue.
