Simtel announces the signing of a contract worth approximately 19.1 million euros (excluding VAT) with Verbund Wind Power Romania, part of the international Verbund group, one of the largest renewable energy producers in Europe. The contract covers the design, construction and commissioning of a photovoltaic park with an installed capacity of 60 MWp, in Casimcea, Tulcea County.
The project has an estimated implementation period of 15 months, to which is added a performance guarantee period of 36 months. Simtel will provide all the services specific to an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) contract, delivering a turnkey photovoltaic power plant that will complement the existing infrastructure and contribute to the hybridization of the CAS South 2 wind park, operated by Verbund Wind Power Romania, in the same area.
In Casimcea, Verbund, Austria’s leading energy company and one of the largest hydroelectric power producers in Europe, has been operating a 226 MW wind farm since 2012. The hybridization of the existing wind farm represents one of the most important hybrid renewable energy projects underway in Romania and marks a milestone in the country’s energy transition.

The integration of a 60 MWp photovoltaic park perfectly complements the existing wind farm and allows us to develop the first hybrid renewable energy park in Romania. Solar energy perfectly complements wind production, especially during low wind hours, thus optimizing grid utilization and return on investment. We believe that this model will become increasingly present in Romania, and the Casimcea project is a first confirmation in this regard”, stated Mihai Tudor, CEO of the Simtel Team.
In the last five years, Simtel has designed and commissioned photovoltaic installations with a total capacity of over 500 MWp for clients from various industries.
The photovoltaic parks for which Simtel provides operation and maintenance (O&M) services currently total over 450 MWp of installed capacity, covering 412 photovoltaic plants and managing over 5,000 annual interventions.
