Registrations of new cars in Romania increased by 39% in September 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year, and electric models sold 52% better than in September 2024, but in the first nine months the total number of new registrations decreased by 5.1%, according to preliminary data from the General Directorate of Driving Licenses and Registrations (DGPCI), centralized by the Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers (APIA).

Thus, during the first month of autumn, the number of new cars registered nationally reached a volume of 12,409 units, according to Agerpres.

In the ranking of registered car brands, in September, Dacia leads – with 4,124 units, followed by Renault – with 1,139 units, and Toyota (1,047 units). Depending on the model, the most registrations are for Dacia Logan (1,743 units), Dacia Duster (931) and Dacia Sandero (774 units).

In this range, pure electric cars reported an increase of 52% in September, compared to the same month in 2024 and achieved a market share of 6%.

In the first nine months of 2025, new car registrations reached 108,067 units, down 5.1% compared to the same period last year.
