Rompetrol Rafinare recorded significant operational growth and an improvement in financial indicators in the first half of 2025, amid an increase in the volumes of processed raw materials, as well as of petroleum products traded domestically and internationally. The company continued to play an important role in the stability of fuel supply on the domestic market, but also in the Black Sea region.
In the first half of the year, the total volume of raw materials processed at the Petromidia and Vega refineries amounted to approximately 2.97 million tons, up 62% compared to the level recorded in the same period last year, when the production units were temporarily shut down for planned general overhaul works.
Similarly, the production of fuels (gasoline, diesel, jet) recorded a 65% increase, to a level of 2.28 million tons, which was reflected in a 24% increase in domestic sales and almost a tripling of export volumes.
In the context of an increase in the net refining margin, but also of the measures adopted to improve energy efficiency and technological losses, ensure a constant flow of raw material supply, achieve optimal operating parameters of the production units, but also adjust their yields in accordance with market demand, the company managed to significantly improve its financial results recorded in the first half of the year. Thus, consolidated gross turnover increased by 32% compared to the indicator recorded in the similar period in 2024, reaching approximately 2.8 billion dollars, and the operating result (EBITDA – profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) increased by 73%, to 77.6 million dollars.
The net result recorded by the company improved by 29% compared to that of the similar period in 2024, continuing to be influenced by the fluctuation of international quotations of raw materials (crude oil, bio components), by the increase in the RON/USD/EUR exchange rate, reflecting the uncertainties triggered at a global level and on the international financial market, but also by seasonal trends of decreasing demand, complemented by the fiscal framework.
Rompetrol Rafinare continued to be an important supporter of Romania’s state budget, with a contribution of over 771 million dollars in the first semester of 2025. Rompetrol Rafinare operates the two refineries of the KMG International Group – Petromidia Năvodari, (the largest and most complex unit in the country) and Vega, in Ploiești (the only bitumen and hexane producer in Romania), along with the only petrochemical division in the country, maintaining the local refining industry at high standards.
