Rompetrol is expanding its presence this year with 13 new fuel stations in Romania, located in areas of interest across the country and on high-speed roads. The first six stations are in various phases of construction, with their completion estimated for April, and their opening for the period June – July.
“It is a complex project, because we are carrying it out in three distinct areas, simultaneously, but we benefit from the support of specialized teams, with experience in such works. The new stations will ensure an increase in Rompetrol’s presence in areas with a strategic role for transport, in line with the development of the national infrastructure. We continue to want to develop the network and are open to opportunities that can bring a plus for the national distribution segment”, declared Laurențiu Colțănel, Director of Network Planning and Development at KMG International (Rompetrol).
The 6 stations will create a total of over 130 new jobs and will each be equipped with three multi-product pumps, a high-speed pump and one with AdBlue (a special additive used in diesel engines, to comply with the Euro 6 standard), an LPG skid, as well as four 150 kW charging stations. The stations will integrate the hei concept, and the actual space on which each gas station will be located is 273 square meters.
Thus, two stations are being built in Mureș County (Sânpaul locality), on the A3 Highway, a short distance from the municipality of Târgu Mureș, which will have 36 parking spaces for cars and 11 parking spaces for heavy-duty vehicles.
Works are also advanced on the construction of two new stations in Brașov County, on the bypass of the municipality of Brașov, which have parking capacity for 59 cars and 22 heavy-duty vehicles.
Two other fuel stations are under construction in the municipality of Suceava – Suceava Ipotești (on National Road 2, at the entrance to Suceava) and Suceava Scheia (on the bypass). Together, the two stations have a parking capacity for 50 cars and 20 heavy-duty vehicles.
At the same time, works for seven other new Rompetrol stations have been initiated, in locations across the country – Bucharest Ring Road, Ovidiu (Constanța County), Iași, Bacău, Timișoara, as well as two stations on the exit/entry route to the Republic of Moldova, through Vama Albița. These will generate another 130 jobs.
By expanding the range of services and products offered, supported by the possibility of charging electric cars and mobile applications, Rompetrol stations have evolved in the last 15 years, becoming service centers and energy suppliers for customers. Recently, the mobile application dedicated to electric charging (Rompetrol EV-Charge) was also launched, where the availability, charging speeds and estimated waiting time can be consulted in real time in all charging stations in its own network.
In 2023, Rompetrol came up, for the first time in Romania, with a new concept for service spaces on highways, through which it integrated the fuel/AdBlue filling section, fast charging stations for electric cars, parking and relaxation areas, with a generous interior, with triple the average surface area of other Rompetrol stations.
At the end of the works, the new gas stations will be taken over in operation by Rompetrol Downstream, the retail division of the KMG International Group in Romania.
At the end of September 2025, Rompetrol’s distribution segment in Romania included 1,206 points of sale, which use exclusively fuels produced in the largest refinery in Romania – Petromidia Năvodari.
