Romania’s energy consumption increased by 5.3% in the first ten months

The country’s energy consumption was 5.3% higher in the first ten months of this year, compared to the same period last year, reaching 46.1 TWh, according to a statement from the National Institute of Statistics.

The largest increase was in the case of consumption of the population, up 7.4%, while consumption in the economy increased by 4.6%. Its own technological consumption of power plants also increased by 4.7%, according to Agerpres.

National electricity production increased by 7.2% to 49.1 TWh. The highest increase in production was in hydroelectric power plants – 17.5% and in conventional thermal power plants – 11.4%.

Renewable energy production decreased by 10.2% in the case of wind farms, and by 1% in the case of photovoltaic parks.
