Romania’s electricity consumption rose by 6.2% in January

The country’s final electricity consumption increased in the first month of this year by 6.2% compared to the same period last year, but the population saved 3.7%, according to the National Institute of Statistics.

On the other hand, industrial consumption was higher by 10.1%, and that with public lighting increased by 2%.

Total electricity production was higher by 5.9%, the largest increase being in the area of renewables: 39% more photovoltaic energy and 25% more wind energy. Production at power plants and hydropower plants has dropped by between 1% and 2%, according to Agerpres.

Imports were also 10.2% lower, while the exported quantity decreased by 1% compared to January 2021.

At the same time, the own technological consumption of the networks and stations decreased by 5.5%.

In January 2022, primary energy resources increased by 3.3% and energy resources by 4%.
