In 2015, Photon Energy made its initial foray into the Romanian market, commencing a journey to enhance the nation’s renewable energy landscape. Fast forward to October 2023, the renewable energy company achieved a significant milestone by successfully commissioning eight proprietary photovoltaic power plants with a combined capacity of 31.5 MWp in six locations across the country.  Currently, Photon Energy is busy building an additional five power plants with a total capacity of 20.1 MWp, which are expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

In addition to developing utility-scale power plants for its own use and supplying clean electricity to consumers, the company has expertise in designing and constructing ground-mounted and rooftop solar power and storage systems for commercial and industrial clients.

Through its B2B eShop, Photon Energy offers installation companies quick and easy access to best-in-class PV components.

‘We are thrilled to have expanded our global portfolio of operating solar PV assets by completing and grid-connecting eight power plants with a total capacity of 31.5 MWp in our Romanian market this year,’ said Georg Hotar, CEO of Photon Energy Group. ‘The commissioning of these power plants represents an important milestone for Photon Energy in the Romanian renewable energy market, where we have an additional capacity of around 21 MWp in five different locations at an advanced stage of construction.’

What are Photon Energy’s competitive advantages in Romania? We are one of the few in Romania with experience along the complete lifecycle of PV power plants. We’re a value engineering partner, flexible with pricing engineering services. Our optimized engineering solution creates peace of mind regarding potential price drops, increases in balancing costs and other areas which less experienced companies cannot manage. We provide O&M services with local service technicians and complex electricity market access services,’ commented Lauru Badiță, Photon Energy Romania’s Country Manager.

He continued: ‘None of these achievements would have been possible without the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm of our team of 40 in Romania. Their unwavering commitment to our shared vision has served as the driving force behind our growth and success. Thanks to their efforts, we are thrilled to reveal that we have an impressive 200+ MWp in our pipeline, set to become a reality in the very near future!’
