PeWeTe has launched in Romania its new regional hub for well services

Petro Welt Technologies (PeWeTe) officially launched its new base of operations dedicated to Romania and the Central and South-Eastern European region: PeWeTe Evo Europe, in Ploiești, in the presence of numerous officials, representatives of oil and gas companies and mass media.

The new hub was inaugurated by Gerd Bommer, head of Advantage Austria in Romania, Christian Jennevin, vice president of Global Business Development and Operations, Petro Welt Technologies and George Căpățînă, general manager, PeWeTe Evo Europe.

With 25 employees currently, PeWeTe Evo Europe will offer the Romanian market over 160 new jobs in the medium term. Delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the official opening marks the launch of regional operations in segments such as drilling of oil and gas wells using mobile installations, interventions in existing wells and remediation of damaged wells, well stimulation and pumping, drilling of geothermal and gas storage wells and mining drilling.

“Romania will be a service hub for the region,” said George Căpățînă, general manager PeWeTe Evo Europe. “We intend to have a long-term business in Romania and we want to provide, over time, the full range of services in the portfolio of PeWeTe group.” George Căpățînă specified that Romania was chosen, first of all, because it is part of the European Union. Then, a decisive factor was the long tradition of the local oil and gas industry. “Romania has some of the best specialists in this field”, added George Căpățînă. “We benefit from the local presence of international companies, without whose support drilling services, drilling interventions (workover) and repairs at the level required by the beneficiaries today cannot be performed. To prepare this equipment and the necessary infrastructure, PeWeTe has made important investments in Romania and it continues to plan to work mostly with local and international partners, in the best relations and with an orientation towards maximum performance”.

Founded in 1991, the parent company, Petro Welt Technologies, is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. The company has numerous lines of activity dedicated to the oil and gas sector. In 2018, PeWeTe decided to expand its area of operations in several geographical areas, including Romania. This is how PeWeTe Evo Europe was born, a company that became operational in 2019, with the help of several mobile drilling and drilling rigs (workover).

“So far, we have drilled over 450 wells worldwide,” said Christian Jennevin, vice president of Global Business Development and Operations, Petro Welt Technologies. “Besides drilling, we have an excellent service activity, which we intend to develop in Romania and regionally. Sustainability is the word of the future and we look forward to being involved in local and regional geothermal projects.”

PeWeTe Evo Europe has already successfully carried out several operations in Romania and Hungary, and in the context of the new European funds dedicated to the energy industry for the energy transition and the coal phase-out and replacement with gas, it expects an unprecedented increase in works shortly.
