Petrom’s investments increased by 56% in 2018

OMV Petrom SA’s investments amounted to 5,495 million lei in 2018, up 56% from those in 2017. Investments in the upstream segment (4,549 million lei) accounted for 83% of the total value registered in 2018, 47% above the level of from 2017, the result of intensified drilling and capital repairs. The increase was also due to the contribution of USD 335 million (1,365 million lei) to Kom Munai LLP’s share capital, reflected in financial investments. In addition, in 2018, OMV Petrom acquired the remaining 5% of minority interest in Kom Munai LLP, increasing its holding to 100%, an operation for which the amount of 1 million lei was paid, according to profit.ro.

In the previous year, 2017, OMV Petrom paid 602.55 million lei to raise the share capital of the other Kazakhstan branch, Tasbulat Oil Corporation LLP. In Kazakhstan, OMV Petrom holds development and production licenses for the TOC (Tasbulat, Aktas and Turkmenoi) oil fields and for the Komsomolskoe oilfield. In 2018, OMV Petrom’s average oil and gas production in Kazakhstan was of 6.8 thousand barrels equivalent of oil per day, compared with 7 thousand in 2017.
