Delgaz Grid specialists identified, between January and September, over 2,500 cases of fraudulent consumption, 800 of which were of natural gas and more than 1,700 of electricity. The 2,500 cases of fraudulent consumption caused Delgaz Grid losses of over 4.4 million lei in the first nine months of the year. Stolen energy, both from various companies and from domestic consumers, totalled 19 million kWh.

Improvisations made by various people to steal energy or natural gas endanger children or adults alike, whether they are users or just passing through areas where has been installed illegal equipment. There were situations in which Delgaz teams acted promptly with the state authorities to avoid accidents that could have caused large fires and even deaths.

In some Moldova counties, hundreds of cases of unauthorized consumption of electricity were identified, being used different types of uninsulated, aerial or buried cables, scattered in blocks of flats stairscase lobbies or between houses or companies headquarters. Most cases were detected in Iasi County (575), and each case of this kind could lead to tragedies that were difficult to imagine.

Also in the natural gas distribution system, numerous illegal interventions were detected, most of them being in Cluj county (173). In general, natural gas meters have been used to record lower consumption than real ones. This type of intervention leads to the occurrence of leaks, to the system of catching the meter, leaks that lead to losses of natural gas, which can produce, at any time, explosions or fires. Following the detailed research carried out with the state authorities, groups were identified that acted on this segment.
