OPCOM: The price of energy was four times higher than in the previous year in December

The price of electricity on the spot market of the OPCOM exchange (Day Ahead Market – DAM) averaged to 1,139 lei per MWh in December 2021, a value four times higher than the price recorded in the same month of the previous year, respectively of 284 lei per MWh, according to the monthly report posted on the stock exchange operator’s website, writes Agerpres.

The total value of transactions was of 2.6 billion lei, up from 627 million lei in December 2020.

On the other hand, the volume of transactions increased by 5.7%, to 2,239,931 MWh.

The market share of DAM was of 42.71% in December, down 3.87%.

About 350 participants were registered on the OPCOM spot market, of which 246 were active.

The Day Ahead Market (DAM) is a component of the wholesale electricity market on which firm hourly transactions are made with electricity delivered on the day following the trading day.
