The National Company Nuclearelectrica recorded, in the first quarter of this year, a net profit of 851.547 million lei, up by 62.9% compared to the same period in 2025, according to a report submitted on Friday to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB).

According to the cited source, operating income increased by 6.2%, to 1.61 billion lei, from 1.51 billion lei in Q1 of 2025, mainly as a result of the 9.5% increase in income from the sale of electricity, which reached 1.57 billion lei, according to Agerpres.

EBITDA increased by 58.6% and reached 1.14 billion lei, and the operating result (EBIT) rose by 71.8%, to 933.52 million lei.

At the same time, operating expenses, less depreciation and amortization and the contribution to the Energy Transition Fund (EFTF), increased by 2.9%, to 469.8 million lei.

The net financial result was 92.3 million lei, up 13.6% compared to the first three months of the previous year, while financial income increased by 11.4% and financial expenses decreased by 9.1%.

At the same time, the profit tax expense increased by 66%, to 171.7 million lei.

The gross electricity production of the two operational units of the Cernavodă NPP was 2,864,403 MWh, in the first quarter of 2026, of which the Units’ own technological consumption during operation, as well as during shutdowns ensured from their own production, was 229,000 MWh.

Thus, the electricity produced and delivered to the National Energy System (SEN) was 2,634,578 MWh, down 3.2%, compared to the reference interval.

The National Nuclearelectrica Company (SNN) is the only producer of nuclear energy in Romania and of fuel related to the technology used, CANDU 6. The company was founded in 1998, and in October 2013 it listed 10% of its share capital on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

According to BVB data, on December 31, 2025, the Romanian State, through the Ministry of Energy, held 82.50% of the company’s share capital, legal entities – a share of 13.55%, and individuals – 3.95%.
