Nova Power & Gas has applied to ANRE for approval to build new gas-fired power generation capacity, according to Invest Energy. The draft decision and report on the granting of authorizations were included on the agenda of ANRE’s Regulatory Committee meeting on 19 July.

A year ago, Nova Power & Gas applied to ANRE for the establishment permits for the construction of the CEG – 1 and CEG – 2 energy capacities for the production of electricity from natural gas. The companies Nova Power & Gas and Electrogrup started work on the first natural gas power plant in the municipality of Câmpia Turzii, a 7 million euros project, in 2020.

The private power generation project includes a power plant consisting of two power stations equipped with gas engine generator sets (individual capacity of 6.72 MW) and the extension of the 20kV distribution network. Representatives of Nova Power & Gas have announced investments of 600 MW in photovoltaic generation capacity and gas or turbine power plants that can be partially converted to hydrogen.

“What we want to do is sell energy into the system. We choose Transylvania because it is energy deficient,” said Teofil Mureșan, president of E-Infra Group. Nova Power & Gas and Electrogrup are part of the group of companies active in energy and telecommunications infrastructure, together with Netcity Telecom and Direct One, with 500 employees and annual turnover of 100 million euros.
