US-based Nextpower is consolidating its local presence and positioning Romania as an operational center for the entire region, with a 30% global market share and 700 MW delivered in Romania in 2024 alone, said Antonio Sendin Rodriguez, VP Sales Southern & Eastern Europe at the company.
“Romania is a hub for [us in] Eastern Europe,” he added, at the Energy Strategy Summit 2026, organized by Energynomics.
Solar trackers generate around 21% more energy than fixed structures, but the more significant advantage is commercial. By following the sun from east to west throughout the day, they concentrate production in the morning and evening hours, when market prices peak, delivering up to 33% more value for the same installed capacity.
On the supply chain side, the company already manufactures in China, Southeast Asia, India, Brazil and the US, and by the end of this year will be able to produce nearly 100% of tracker components in Europe, reducing logistics risks and costs associated with the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. In Romania, local partners already manufacture controllers for both the European market and for export, and the country will become a hub for critical spare parts and installation equipment serving the entire region.
Rodriguez added that transport electrification and attracting energy-intensive industry will sustain energy demand and, consequently, the construction of new renewable capacity. He cited Spain’s example, which despite years of high prices has become Europe’s most active country in solar installations.
