The Republic of Moldova cannot provisionally close accession negotiations with the European Union on other chapters without progress in judicial reform, the fight against corruption, the protection of fundamental rights, and border security, stated Rodica Crudu, the Government’s State Secretary for Integration, during the “Paralela 47” program on Radio Moldova.
The interim benchmarks for Chapters 23 and 24—which cover the judiciary, fundamental rights, justice, freedom, and security—must be met before other chapters can be provisionally closed.
Authorities in Chișinău have developed nearly 300 measures to address these benchmarks, and their implementation is now in the final reporting stage.
The next milestone is scheduled for October 28, when the Republic of Moldova—alongside Ukraine, Montenegro, and Albania—is expected to receive its EU accession roadmap, according to local media.
