Motion against the Minister of Energy will resume behind closed doors

The motion of no confidence initiated by USR against the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, has been suspended and will be resumed behind closed doors, after the minister was assaulted by one of the leaders of the far-right party AUR. The session was suspended in the meeting on Monday afternoon, Minister Popescu being interrupted and physically and verbally assaulted by the AUR leader George Simion. Popescu said he would file a criminal complaint against the far-right leader.

Earlier, on Monday morning, Virgil Popescu announced that he had “no emotion” about the simple motion filed by USR against him, showing that he was convinced that the Social Democrats would vote “against it”. Aslo the president of PNL, Forin Cîţu, said previously that he has no “emotions” regarding the result of the simple motion submitted by USR against the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu.

Cîţu added that he is waiting for the solutions from the Government regarding the energy strategy for the period after March 31.

“We are waiting for the solutions from the Government, we will see which ideas are the best,” said the PNL leader, when asked if a market regulation will be followed from March 31 or the GEO will be extended until next winter.

According to the PNL president, the solutions of the working group set up on this topic will be analyzed at the coalition meeting.

The Minister of Energy, on the other hand, said that the reaction of several companies regarding the recalculation of energy bills should be expected.

“You’ve seen a recalculation at Enel. Let’s see what happens at other companies. I’ve seen a press release from Enel, don’t generalize what Enel means. I’ve seen recalculations of invoices cut in half,” Virgil Popescu said, according to Agerpres.
