The Ministry of Energy announces the launch of two calls for projects from the Fund for Modernization within the Key Program no. 1 – Renewable energy sources and energy storage – Supporting investments in new production capacities for electricity produced from renewable sources for self-consumption.

The objective of the first call for projects is the financing of new energy production capacities from renewable sources dedicated to self-consumption, contributing to the achievement of the objectives assumed by Romania within PNIESC and FM – Key Program 1: Renewable energy sources and energy storage. The estimated total budget is the equivalent in lei of 415 million euros and represents non-reimbursable amounts from the Modernization Fund. State aid is granted in lei in the form of reimbursement of eligible expenses incurred and cannot exceed EUR 20 million per enterprise, per investment project. The call provides capacity limits of 5 MW for two funding streams (under and over 5 MW, both included but separately) and does not announce restrictions for wind or hydro.

The second announced call is worth 400 million euro and is dedicated to production from renewable sources, without capacity limit.

“You already know our motto at the Ministry of Energy: investments, investments, investments. Today, our super team finalized the applicant guidelines for two brand new Modernization Fund calls: green energy generation and self-consumption (solar, wind, hydro). Total budget: 400 million euros for production and 415 million euros for self-consumption. Calls will launch on April 25 at 09:00 and close on July 23 at 17:00.

”We anticipate financing 1,700-2,000MW in new generation capacity, plus more for self-consumption (minimum 70% energy for local consumption). There are projects that will be completed in the next two years. Bonus: 10 extra points in the assessment for projects involving the installation of storage capacities. Because this is the main need of the Romanian national energy system,” said the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja.
