PNL leader Ludovic Orban is the prime minister appointed by President Klaus Iohannis to form the new Government, after the censure motion against the Viorica Dăncilă Cabinet. The head of state said that “the new government needs to be installed urgently”, as each extra day with the former Cabinet “is a lost day for Romania”.

After his appointment was announced, Ludovic Orban presented his main priorities, starting with restoring the macroeconomic balances and “correcting the economic measures that have affected the business environment,” according to Hotnews.

The priorities announced by Ludovic Orban also include “the extensive restructuring of the government apparatus, the restoration of competence and professionalism, the digitalization of the administration” but also “respecting all the rigours regarding the rule of law, the rights and freedoms of citizens” and “restoring the state institutions in the service of the citizens and not of the politicians.”

According to article 103 of the Constitution, the candidate for the position of prime minister will request, within 10 days from the appointment, the confidence vote of the Parliament on its program and the entire list of the new Government.
