Transgaz’s investment program in the Republic of Moldova has been completed, “as we promised,” said Ion Sterian, CEO of Transgaz, within the event Regional approach: Chisinau 2021, organized by Energynomics. ”The Iași-Ungheni gas pipeline is fully completed, with all the related connections. The Onești-Gherăești-Lescani gas pipeline, with its two compression stations, has been completed and is operational. We are waiting for the suppliers to nominate the volumes of gas that we can transport to the Republic of Moldova”, said Sterian.

Even if we have two compression stations that will take over the gases from the Black Sea, from other diversified sources in the southern corridor, such as Turkish Stream, unfortunately, the works at the interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece are very slow, although they had to be completed for several years. said the director of Transgaz. “It would have offered the Republic of Moldova access to diversified sources through the Southern Corridor, from TAP, Tanap, the Caspian Corridor and the Shah Deniz 2 perimeter. It would have been better to have these sources for Romania, the Republic of Moldova and other Central European countries,” he said. he said.

The new gas pipeline completed by Transgaz can transport up to 6.5 million cubic meters of gas/day, covering the needs of the Republic of Moldova, without Transnistria.

“Basically, starting yesterday, the Republic of Moldova can purchase gas from anywhere in the world,” added the head of Transgaz.

The conference Regional Approach: Chișinău is organised by Energynomics with the support of our partners: ABB România, Electrica Furnizare, Kawasaki Gas Turbine Europe Gmbh, LAPP România, Nova Power & Gas, Siemens Energy Romania, Transelectrica, Transgaz.
