The development of the industrial sector is directly dependent on access to energy sources, and the main problem in creating a hydrogen industry is the lack of specialists, said Ioan Iordache, president of the Romanian Hydrogen Energy Association.

“Industry without energy is impossible. But it’s one thing to be smart with respect to energy, it’s another to burn [hydrogen] like a gas, to consume the resource just for the sake of it,” he said, at the conference “Hydrogen Project – what is Romania up to”, organised by Energynomics.

On the development of a hydrogen industry in Romania, Iordache said that some local companies have been involved in this sector for decades or even a century. The most important thing at the moment is to secure specialists to expand the industry.

“It’s a long way from bringing hydrogen to the level of art in society. Hydrogen means technologies and specialists. We need to convince students and pupils to start learning chemistry, physics and mathematics again, because there is a lack of specialists all over Europe,” he added.

The conference “Hydrogen Project – what is Romania up to” was organized by Energynomics with the support of our partners Elektra Renewable Support and Horváth.

On this occasion, the Didactic and Pedagogical Publishing House presented the book “Discussions the Hydrogen Energy Vector”, authored by Ioan Iordache, Dumitru Chisăliță, Hans Marius Shuster, Cristian Călin, and Oana Dumitrean, as part of the collection “Academica energie.”
