Russian gas deliveries to Hungary take place without interruption and there will be no supply problem in the cold season neither for domestic consumers, nor for industrial ones, Tamas Menczer, State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Budapest, said on Monday, informs MTI.

Based on a recent agreement, Gazprom will deliver up to a maximum daily volume of 5.8 million cubic meters of gas above those contracted for September and October, Menczer said on M1 public television.

The Secretary of State also stated that almost half of the gas consumed annually in Europe, about 400 billion cubic meters, comes from Russia, and insisted that “those who say that Russian gas could be replaced in the short term are simply not telling the truth,” according to Agerpres.

Menczer also argued that Europe does not have enough terminals to receive sufficient quantities of liquefied natural gas (LNG), nor does it have enough pipelines.

According to Menczer, Gazprom generated a record profit of 41.5 billion dollars, double that of last year, despite the sanctions of the European Union.

“The Russians are making money, far beyond expectations, while Europe is in an energy crisis, Hungary being a local exception,” the state secretary added.
