“I thank the investors for the trust they have placed in Hidroelectrica and for their constant support of the strategic direction the company is following. The positive evolution of the share reflects both Hidroelectrica’s performance and the market’s confidence in the proposed investment and development plan. Since taking over the CEO mandate in September 2025, the value of Hidroelectrica’s share has appreciated significantly, confirming that the decisions taken, the strategic projects launched and the commitment to responsible and transparent governance create tangible value for both shareholders and the national energy system,” said Bogdan Badea, Chairman of the Hidroelectrica Board of Directors.
This evolution of the stock price is supported by the approval of important strategic steps at the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders on January 27, 2026. Among these is the decision to establish by SPEEH Hidroelectrica S.A., together with EDF Power Solutions International, a joint venture company, in the form of a joint venture, with equal participation of 50% for each party. At the same time, the Shareholders’ Agreement to be concluded between the two companies was approved, a document that will regulate the functioning and governance of the joint venture, established for the development of the Tarnița Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Power Plant project, a strategic objective of major importance for the national energy system.
During the same meeting, the acquisition of legal consultancy services was also approved, both in connection with the process of increasing the share capital of SPEEH Hidroelectrica S.A., and in the context of the company’s objective of acquiring, upon commissioning, the CHEAP Frasin–Pângărați power plant, with an installed capacity of 300 MW, a project to be developed and built by Hidro Blue Energy SRL.
Thus, during the aforementioned period (September 1, 2025 – January 27, 2026), the company’s stock market capitalization increased by approximately 14%, from 54.7 billion lei to 62.3 billion lei, positioning Hidroelectrica as the second largest Romanian company in terms of stock market capitalization.
