Greece’s Helleniq Energy also enters Bulgarian renewables market

    Greece’s Helleniq Energy Holdings said its subsidiary Helleniq Renewables Bulgaria has acquired local company Agro NV Properties, which owns a ready-to-build 123 MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) project with an option to install a 90 MW/180 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), according to SeeNews.

    The deal marks Helleniq Energy’s entry into the rapidly growing Bulgarian renewables market, the company said in press release. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

    The PV project is located in Haskovo region in southern Bulgaria. Agro NV Properties was acquired from Sofia-based renewable energy company Element Power Group.

    Agro NV Properties specialises in the purchase and sale of agricultural land, real estate management and transactions, leasing, renting, letting, subletting and subleasing of agricultural land, as well as consulting services, according to company information.

    Sofia-based Helleniq Renewables Bulgaria, founded in 2025, has a capital of 38.3 million levs ($22.8 million/19.6 million euro), commercial register data shows.

    Helleniq Energy previously said that its subsidiary Helleniq Renewables Romania has finalised the acquisition of a 96 MW wind project in Romania’s eastern county of Galati and has signed a deal to acquire a 186 MW wind project in the eastern county of Vaslui.
