Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu attended, on Thursday, at the Victoria Palace, the signing of the financing contract for the modernization, refurbishment and expansion of the centralized thermal energy supply system in the municipality of Râmnicu Vâlcea.

It is a project with a total value of around 140 million euros financed by the Heating Program, carried out by the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration, states the cited source.

“I congratulate the local authorities of Râmnicu Vâlcea for having managed to access the funds made available through the Heating Program and I encourage other local authorities to apply to this program, the purpose of which is to improve the efficiency of centralized thermal energy supply systems. The citizens of Valcen thus have the chance to benefit from energy produced in an environmentally friendly way and, at the same time, to pay a lower price for it,” said Ciolacu, according to Agerpres.

The investment provides for the construction of a new natural gas cogeneration plant, designed to fully deliver thermal energy to the Centralized Thermal Energy Supply System (SACET) of the Râmnicu Vâlcea Municipality, which will replace the current coal-based plant, according to the release.

“Through the implementation of this project, the thermal energy needed by the entire municipality of Râmnicu Vâlcea will be provided, at high standards of efficiency and environmental protection, but also at a lower price per gigacalorie,” the release added.
