Gotion High-Tech used Intersolar Europe 2026 in Munich to present Gotion Grid Q 2.0, its next-generation grid-forming energy storage system designed for utility-scale applications and increasingly renewable-based power networks.

The new platform targets one of the most pressing challenges of the European energy transition: maintaining grid stability as variable renewable generation continues to grow. Built on a cascaded H-bridge architecture, Gotion Grid Q 2.0 provides grid-forming capabilities, including voltage and frequency regulation, supporting more resilient and flexible electricity systems.

The system uses an integrated three-phase containerized design and can connect directly to high-voltage grids from 6 kV to 35 kV. By removing the need for external transformers typically used in conventional architectures, the solution aims to simplify project design, reduce installation complexity and improve system efficiency. According to the company, Gotion Grid Q 2.0 reaches system efficiency of more than 92.1%.

The platform also includes AI-powered monitoring and a cloud-based battery management system, offering real-time diagnostics, predictive maintenance and early warning functions. These features are intended to improve lifecycle reliability and reduce operation and maintenance requirements.

“Europe’s energy transition has entered a new phase where grid resilience and flexibility are becoming just as important as renewable generation itself,” said Gordon Gassmann, Vice President, Gotion EMEA. He added that the new system combines grid-forming technology with Gotion’s expanding European manufacturing base.

The product launch was accompanied by an update on Gotion’s localization strategy, built around the principle “In Europe, for Europe”. The company’s Göttingen facility in Germany, acquired in 2022, is already producing 5 MWh containerized energy storage systems and 261 kWh cabinets for the European market, alongside battery pack solutions for buses, construction vehicles and commercial and industrial storage applications.

Gotion is also advancing construction of its battery gigafactory in Šurany, Slovakia, whose first phase is designed for an annual production capacity of 20 GWh. Together, the Göttingen site and the future Slovak gigafactory are expected to form an integrated European manufacturing network serving both electric mobility and energy storage markets.

Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Hefei, China, Gotion High-Tech develops battery materials, cells, packs, systems and integrated storage solutions. The company is recognized by BloombergNEF and S&P Global as a Tier 1 energy storage manufacturer, and Volkswagen Group is its largest shareholder.
