Flash Lighting Services is one of the most important companies in the field of professional lighting in Romania, said George Zaharia, Head of Traffic Division within the company, during the „Smart Cities – What we can do today” conference, organized by Energynomics.

“If we were to put all the streets we run on public lighting together, we would go a distance long to Paris and back – that’s the length of the roads where we bring light to right now,” he said.

“From the point of view of the path to such professional lighting, the constituent elements come from the area of audit, design, the concept of the system, so the construction part is only one of the elements of this puzzle, which we call design, construction and operation of the lighting system.”

Lighting is considered smart, or of good quality, only when people perceive the system as an extension of home lighting when it provides a sufficient level of safety and comfort for the well-being of citizens.

“From the point of view of integrators, we are focused on following good practices in this area. From a technological point of view, we are talking, on the one hand, about the LED component, with all its components, together with the smart lighting component, which is based on intelligent communication networks (IoT) and dedicated software applications”, he added, with some details from the systems installed in Tulcea and Brașov.

“All the elements of a smart city can be applications of the lighting system: charging stations for electric vehicles installed directly on the lighting pole, video surveillance, radars, speed displays, video cameras, particle sensors or pollution… In short, the projects we do in Romania are related to public lighting, special lighting for pedestrian crossings, architectural and sports lighting, and, recently, we got involved in the area of traffic lights, traffic management, electric chargers and smart solutions”.

The conference “Smart Cities – what we can do today” was organized by Energynomics, with the support of our partners ABB, Automobile Bavaria Group, Consolight, Eaton Electric, Enel X, Flash Lighting Services, LAPP Romania, Phoenix Contact, REI Group, Sixt, Signify.
