Romania imported, in the first seven months of 2022, a quantity of usable natural gas of 1.301 million tons of oil equivalent (toe), 17.3% (-271,500 toe) less than in the same period last year, according to data centralized by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The domestic production of natural gas was, in the mentioned period, of over 4.067 million toe, with 4.9% (209,200 toe) below that of the first seven months of 2021.

The National Strategy and Forecasting Commission estimates for 2022 a gas production of 7.45 million toe and imports of 2.33 million toe, increasing by 1.9% and decreasing by 19.6%, respectively, from year to year.
