The vice-president of the Forta Dreptei Party, the non-affiliated deputy Ionel Dancă, requested, on Monday, the urgent convening of the reporting committees of the Senate for the debate and amendment of Ordinance 119/2022 regarding energy prices.

“We request the PSD – PNL – UDMR Government to urgently convene the reporting committees in the Senate for Ordinance 119, to debate the amendments proposed by the group of independent right-wing deputies to Ordinance 119, so that this new capping and compensation scheme for energy prices is corrected in the points that represent at the moment some extraordinary aberrations for the population of Romania. As we have observed, in this period of energy crisis, the PSD – PNL – UDMR Government failed to come up with a real solution to the problem of energy prices, and the last ordinance is a head-to-tail aberration and it must be urgently corrected in the Parliament,” said Dancă, at the Palace of the Parliament.

He added that the parliamentarians from Forţa Dreptei support the removal of the article that stipulates that the capping of electricity and natural gas prices is conditioned by consumption from 2021, according to Agerpres.

“It makes no sense that the capping of electricity and natural gas prices be conditioned by the consumption that Romanian households had in 2021. We also propose that the cap be applied to a consumption limit of 300 KWh. 255 KWh, the Government’s proposal, is a proposal without economic justification and, practically, from this artifice, more than 1 million households in Romania would suffer due to the reduction of the consumption limit from 300 KWh at 255. We proposed that the capped price for the consumption limit of 300 KWh should apply to all consumers who recorded an average monthly consumption of 300 KWh and only the difference over 300 KWh should be paid at the market price,” Dancă explained.

Another amendment proposed by Forţa Dreptei refers to the elimination of green certificates and the cogeneration bonus from the final price structure.
