The Foreign Investors Council (FIC) announced the new leadership team for the 2025-2026 mandate. Thus, Gilles Ballot, CEO Carrefour Romania, has been appointed FIC President. Daniel Anghel, Country Managing Partner PwC Romania and Alexandru Reff, Country Managing Partner Deloitte Romania & Moldova, will occupy the positions of Vice Presidents of FIC, and Alexandru Lupea, member of the EY Romania Executive Committee, will continue his mandate as Treasurer.

FIC is the main voice of foreign investors in Romania and a key driver of dialogue and cooperation between the international business community and the Romanian authorities. FIC promotes sustainable economic development and a predictable and transparent investment environment. With nearly 110 member companies and their experts, FIC contributes to shaping public policies through data-based analysis and continuous engagement in dialogue with decision-makers.

“It has been a privilege to hold the position of FIC President during a dynamic and intense period. In recent years, FIC has been involved in numerous high-level political events and discussions, and I have had the unique opportunity to understand how the main international institutions see Romania’s development path. These interactions have provided our members with valuable insights and further encouraged a strategic, long-term vision on the country’s economic priorities. FIC has maintained its constant commitment to the sustainable development of the economy, our activity being based on the contributions of over 1,000 experts from all member companies. Together, we have completed rigorous analyses, research and studies that underpin our proposals and recommendations that reflect best practices from other countries adjusted to the Romanian economy. The publication of the 15th edition of the White Paper and the update of the “Va Urma” macroeconomic growth model are clear evidence of FIC’s continuous efforts and its sustainable mission. I am proud of what I have achieved together with my colleagues on the Steering Committee and confident in the direction we are heading,” said Daniel Anghel, FIC President for the period 2023-2025.

“I thank the members of the Steering Committee for their trust and support. Romania is currently facing not only the challenge of budget deficits, but also the need to navigate a new European paradigm, more focused on competitiveness and defense. Crises bring pressure, but also create an impetus for change. This moment offers a real opportunity to reset and reshape the Romanian economy around sustainable growth trajectories, reflecting today’s realities and aligning with tomorrow’s objectives. With the right strategic direction, we can turn this period into a turning point for increasing competitiveness, strengthening long-term resilience, protecting the country’s rating and regaining investor confidence. “I am proud to lead an organization that is independent, objective and professional – qualities that define FIC’s strength and reputation. Looking ahead, we remain committed to strengthening the ecosystem that Romania needs, one in which international investment, local entrepreneurship and effective public policies come together to stimulate sustainable and inclusive growth,” said Gilles Ballot, the new President of FIC.

In an economic context marked by fiscal uncertainty and transitions at the European level, the Romanian business environment needs stability, transparency and long-term vision more than ever. FIC remains an active and professional partner in supporting the authorities to build a competitive and attractive economic framework for investment.
