Almost 9.6% of the inhabitants of Romania who replied to a survey quoted by Eurostat stated that they cannot afford to heat their house, a percentage lower than 14% registered in Italy, 19% – in Portugal, 22% in Cyprus, 23% in Greece and 28% in Lithuania.

As in the EU, in Romania the percentage of those who declare that they cannot afford to heat their homes has decreased steadily in recent years, from 33.3% in 2007 to 11.3% in 2017, to reach 9.6% in 2018, according to Agerpres.

Nearly 7% of European Union residents said in 2018 that they cannot afford to heat their home sufficiently, a constantly decreasing weight in recent years since the peak of 11% recorded in 2012, say data released on Monday by Eurostat.
