Next week, the Energy Policy Group (EPG) officially opens the eighth edition of the EPG Summer School – a reference educational programme in Romania, dedicated to deepening the challenges and solutions in the energy and climate transition. For five days, in Bucharest and Constanța, 23 young professionals will interact directly with 18 international and local experts in public policy, sustainability and energy technologies, in a framework that favors applied learning, critical debate and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The program is conceived as an immersive experience, designed to give participants a panoramic, yet deeply grounded in the realities of the energy market, look at the big themes of the decade: decarbonization of industry, expansion of renewable capacity, digitisation of energy infrastructure and strengthening of electricity grids. Beyond the theory discussed during the courses, participants will visit strategic objectives such as a power station, a wind farm, a passive house and the Cernavodă nuclear power plant, thus understanding the complexity of the Romanian energy system as a whole.

“We are very excited about the new edition of the EPG Summer School,” said Bogdan Leu, EPG Summer School Program Director. “We have already had the opportunity to get to know the trainees during the two preliminary workshops and we are confident that this generation of young professionals will bring fresh, rigorous and relevant ideas for the future of the energy transition. Our role, as experts and facilitators, is to provide them with the necessary tools and context to engage with impact in this strategic field”, added Bogdan Leu.

The program reflects the EPG’s commitment to building a community of energy policy leaders formed on the basis of scientific knowledge and practical experience. The Romanian think tank, established in 2014, remains a regional benchmark in applied research and policy analysis in the field of energy and climate. With an activity supported by competitive grants and strategic partnerships, EPG promotes an informative, balanced and solution-oriented dialogue at the intersection of decarbonization, economic competitiveness and social equity.

The success of the 2025 edition is backed by a strong consortium of partners. OMV Petrom is the Main Sponsor of the program, while Delgaz Grid and Transelectrica are among the sponsors. Among the supporters are major companies of the Romanian energy sector: PPC, Nuclearelectrica, ACUE, Monsson and Distribuție Oltenia. The project also benefits from the support of educational partners – ASE Bucharest and Bucharest Business School – together with organizations such as EFdeN and Renewable Energy School of Skills. On the media side, Energynomics is working together with partners such as The Diplomat – Bucharest and Energy Industry Review, ensuring a professional and high impact coverage of the event.

The EPG Summer School 2025 promises not only a high-level training program, but also a platform for connection and strategic reflection for those who will contribute to shaping the energy future of Romania and the region.
