A unit of Croatia-based renewables, logistics and investments company ENNA Group has agreed to acquire another hybrid project in Romania, which is set to add 166 MWp of solar and 612 MWh of battery storage to its local portfolio.

In particular, ENNA Solar doo has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire the entire share capital of Romanian special purpose vehicle CIC GREEN ENERGY MEDGIDIA SRL, which is leading project development, according to Renewablesnow.

Spanning 204 hectares, the project is situated in the Medgidia area, in the Romanian county of Constanta. Once operational, the plant will generate 265,932 MWh of green power annually.

The Medgidia project is set to enter the construction phase in the first quarter of 2027. The facility is expected to start supplying power to the grid in the first quarter of 2028.

The acquisition hinges on approval from the competent authority for the screening of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Romania and clearance from the relevant competition authorities.

ENNA Solar is already present in the local market. The company previously acquired the Mihailesti solar project, with an installed capacity of 87.52 MWp, which is currently in an advanced stage of construction. The project, which also includes a 140-MWh battery, is scheduled to start commercial operation in April 2027.
