Norwegian-Swedish renewable energy developer Emergy is advancing five onshore wind projects with a combined capacity of approximately 720 MW in Romania.
Emergy group is pursuing a renewable energy pipeline of up to 3 GW across Romania, Serbia, Greece and Ukraine, with Romania representing a significant part of its portfolio, according to SeeNews.
Speaking at an event in Montenegro, Emergy vice president and head of regional area development Gheorghe Ilisei said the company’s five Romanian wind projects were at a late stage of development but did not provide individual commissioning dates.
Romania will also serve as an initial market for Emergy’s integrated renewable generation and data centre strategy. During the third quarter of 2026, Emergy entered exclusivity arrangements covering around 800 MW of potential data centre developments across Southeast Europe. The agreements cover development opportunities rather than operational data centre capacity or confirmed construction commitments. Emergy has established a dedicated team to pursue these opportunities, with several projects progressing to subsequent development stages, according to the statement.
Gheorghe Ilisei also said Emergy is developing a pilot approach intended to connect new renewable electricity production with large-scale digital infrastructure demand. As wind and solar capacity expands, developers increasingly need reliable buyers capable of supporting project financing, and data centres could provide such demand because they consume substantial quantities of electricity over extended periods, according to the statement.
Emergy is a Nordic renwables company that has Southeast Europe as its core market.
