The Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, announced that on Thursday he will ask the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) to start a control regarding the application of the law on the compensation of invoices and the capping of prices.

“Tomorrow I will ask the ANPC to start – two months have already passed since the application of this law – to start a thematic control, to see who and how applied this law, to see if they applied ceilings, compensations, because not we can let the suppliers take care of the application or non-application of this law. At the level of the ministry, in the area of SMEs, where we in turn grant state aid to companies and to suppliers, practically those compensations to SMEs, we give them from the Ministry of Energy to the suppliers, we compensate the suppliers, not many suppliers have submitted requests to ask for payment from the state budget. We are still waiting for January 15th to pass, maybe there were delays due to holidays,” said on Wednesday the Minister of Energy, at Digi 24, according to Agerpres.

He said he had asked colleagues in the ministry to make an accurate assessment of supplier associations with cleared invoices issued to individuals and SMEs to see how this law has been implemented.

“I also asked my colleagues in the ministry to make an exact assessment of the suppliers’ associations, on how many invoices they issued to compensated individuals, to SMEs, to hospitals, to kindergartens and schools, to have an assessment during this month, exactly as this law has been implemented, let’s see if there are syncopes in this implementation, if it can be improved and obviously we can make further decisions,” said the Energy minister.
