According to experts 100,000 households in Romania do not have access to the electricity network. 7,136 of these are households located in isolated areas. The utilities that most of us consider elementary and commonplace today are impossible or very difficult for others to access.
In this context, AHK Romania, through its green tech initiative, econet romania is trying to find sustainable solutions for the electrification of these households and to attract the interest of German and Romanian green energy companies for this type of projects. The tourist area of the Apuseni Mountains, well known for the picturesque hamlets for which time seems to have stood still, has many unelectrified households. The energy strategy of Alba county 2018-2023 mentions a total of 1,028 non-electrified households, of which 240 households are at a distance of more than 2 km from the electricity network (according to a study conducted by AFM – the environmental fund administration), which makes the connection to the grid expensive and complicated.
Through a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy (BMWi), AHK Romania initiated in 2019 the formation of a consortium of German companies to find, together with Romanian companies and interested local authorities, efficient, reliable and environmentally friendly technical solutions to bring electricity to the remote villages from Apuseni and not only. The foundation of the German consortium Power4remote took place and on the 2nd of March the consortium will introduce itself to the Romanian professional audience.
Presentation of the consortium of German companies – 02.03.2021, online
AHK Romania will organize on the 02.03.2021 an online event, dedicated to the presentation of the German consortium. The companies will present their technologies and know-how and talk about how they can contribute in order to carry out the pilot project for the electrification of a remote village. The consortium is made up of four companies active in the field of green energy who want to collaborate with potential Romanian partners and together to find the best electrification solution.
We are convinced that such an initiative can create the opportunity for lasting partnerships and bring notoriety to all participants, with a great potential for replicability. At the same time, we want to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of these remote areas who would finally benefit from electricity.
The members of the consortium are also available for B2B discussions after the event.
The presentation of the consortium can be accessed here.
The event agenda can be found here.
