Electricity prices on the power exchange have doubled since the beginning of the month

The price of electricity on the OPCOM centralized market has been steadily increasing this month, Agerpres noted, with electricity delivered on Tuesday, August 21, costing twice more than at the beginning of August, as data posted on the operator’s website showed.

Thus, on the spot market on August 1, the energy price averaged 166 lei per MWh, on 8 August the price jumped to 232 lei per MWh, on August 14 it reached 278 lei per MWh, while the energy to be delivered on Tuesday, August 21, costs 321 lei per MWh, according to OPCOM.

The same price, 69 euro/MWh, is also registered in the countries with which Romania is coupled to the spot energy market, which is Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

On Monday, Romania’s energy production was 7,302 MW at 14:30, according to the state of the national energy system, presented in real time on the Transelectrica website. National consumption was 7,588 MW at that time, the difference in exports.
