Education in the spirit of energy efficiency represents one of the most solid investments in a modern and responsible society. Therefore, the Efficient Romania program continues to prioritize its active role in preparing the young generation for the future, through the educational campaign addressed to students, carried out throughout 2025. The events organized in public education units start from the conviction that real change begins with the formation, from the earliest possible age, of healthy habits, with a positive, long-term impact on energy consumption and environmental protection.
The workshops held in schools are specially designed to bring important topics such as energy consumption, waste or the responsible use of resources closer to children in a pleasant and attractive way. The simplified information, adapted to age and level of understanding, has a strong practical component, applicable in everyday life. The goal is for students to understand not only what energy efficiency is, but also why it is important and what are the best ways they can contribute to responsible consumption, both at home and at school.
In 2025, the Romania Eficientă team visited three new educational units: Secondary School No. 2 in Chitila, Secondary School No. 2 in Corbeanca and the Media Technical College in Bucharest. The workshops proposed to the children had a friendly and interactive character, being designed as non-formal educational experiences that arouse curiosity and encourage active involvement.
The students discovered, for example, how they can fight against “energy vampires”, appliances left plugged in, which consume energy even when they are not in use, or “ghosts” that steal energy during the night. The technical information was thus transformed into cute, easy-to-remember stories that showed children how they could avoid wasting energy through simple but effective gestures.
The information provided in a relaxed setting, the funny comparisons and the practical advice captured their attention, made them understand the role they have in protecting the planet and increased their confidence in their ability to become champions of energy efficiency. At the end of the workshops, all participants received the Smart Energy Consumption Guide, the Efficient Romania T-shirt and the program’s mascot bear.
Our actions in schools also enjoyed the support and appreciation of teachers , aware of the importance of energy efficiency in buildings and the need to educate children in this direction. The teachers highlighted the practical value of the workshops , a welcome addition to formal education, expressing their hope that the activities we organize will continue and expand, to include more and more schools and communities.
The Efficient Romania Program, run by the Energy Policy Group (EPG) and supported by OMV Petrom, reaffirms its commitment to education for sustainability. The campaign dedicated to young people will continue in 2026, to support the formation of a new generation that understands the value of energy and the importance of its responsible use. Investing in their education is the best guarantee of a more efficient and sustainable future for Romania.
