2025 was an adjustment year for the construction equipment market, after the record levels reached in 2022–2023 both locally and in Europe. In Romania, approximately 2,540 machines were sold, down 19% compared to the previous year. In this context, Bergerat Monnoyeur Romania, the leader in construction equipment distributors, recorded an estimated turnover of 126 million euros (unaudited). The company continued to develop, operating with a structure of approximately 300 employees, focusing its strategy on sustainable projects, integrated solutions and measurable operational efficiency.

Bergerat Monnoyeur’s position on the local market remains solid: 1 in 5 machines in Romania is Cat, and the brand dominates key segments such as bulldozers (1 in 2 units), excavators and backhoe loaders (1 in 3), and motor graders (2 in 3). These results reflect customer confidence in reliability and service, low operating costs and appropriate financing solutions.

Globally, Caterpillar Inc. consolidates its status as an industrial leader through a unique technological ecosystem: with 2.1 million active machines, of which 1.6 million are connected, over 30 million engines manufactured and the largest fleet of autonomous machines in the world. To date, Cat autonomous machines have moved 11 billion tons of material, with zero accidents, demonstrating the direct impact of technology on safety and productivity.

    Artificial intelligence and connectivity

In the current context, connectivity and artificial intelligence are becoming essential factors in the transformation of the construction industry. Data collected from construction sites: hours worked, downtime, consumption, emissions – are no longer just reporting indicators, but operational tools that allow for quick and predictable decisions.

“The future of construction is not about man or machine, but about mixed teams: Man + Machine + AI. Cat AI Assistant is the binder that transforms data into decisions and construction sites into intelligent, connected ecosystems. In Romania, at the end of 2025, approximately 5,000 Cat machines are already connected,” said Liviu Neagu, CEO Bergerat Monnoyeur Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

According to the CEO Bergerat Monnoyeur Romania, the industry is rapidly moving towards autonomous machines and intelligent digital solutions that increase productivity and safety, in a period in which the pressure on costs/profit and meeting deadlines is increasing.

“The difference is no longer made by the power of the machine, but by the ability to control, measure and improve performance. Artificial intelligence helps us transform this data into real competitive advantages for customers”, emphasized Liviu Neagu.

2025: a year of adjustment in a fragile and unstable market

The year 2025 confirmed that the construction equipment market remains sensitive to geopolitical and economic changes at global and national levels. In this context, Bergerat Monnoyeur Romania adopted an approach oriented towards the quality of projects, operational efficiency and added value delivered to customers, even in a year with pressure on volume.

“2025 was a year that required discipline and smart choices. We focused on solutions that deliver real performance on the jobsite – uptime, controlled consumption and productivity – and these criteria will weigh more and more in 2026–2027. It is becoming clear that in the future, companies will increasingly seek a predictable and reduced total operating cost,” added Liviu Neagu.

“In a fragile and unstable market, the difference is made by the ability to measure and control the results: productive hours, consumption, downtime and costs. Our strategy for the coming period is to support customers with integrated solutions – machines, service, parts and digital tools – so that every jobsite is more efficient and predictable.”
