After two previous participations in the Solar Decathlon competition (SDE 2014, Versailles & SDME 2018, Dubai), the EFdeN team is ready to address the most important challenge so far. Solar Decathlon Europe 2021/2022, will take place in Wuppertal, Germany, and will be the first urban edition that addresses the regeneration of the built stock and existing infrastructure – the more topical issues of the moment.

The team’s vision is to create a new model of sustainable housing that facilitates the formation of communities. It is based on 3 modules of living units and a greenhouse module which can be prefabricated and arranged to meet any context. To test this concept, a representative physical prototype will be built this year in Bucharest, then transported and rebuilt in Wuppertal, Germany, where it will be tested and monitored in the final of the Solar Decathlon Europe 21/22 competition.

The team is looking for partners and sponsors with whom to build the prototype and prepare the next generation of professionals!
