Cluj-Napoca City Hall implemented a system to stimulate public transport of people with energy-powered vehicles, as a result of which the number of passengers increased by 56%, to almost 168,000 passengers. Moreover, the objective of the municipality is for the entire public transport fleet of the city to be electric by 2028.

“In the last two years, the term ‘digitalization’ has always been associated with the term ‘pandemic’, which marked an extraordinary challenge especially for local public administrations, but also contributed to the acceleration of the digitization of services intended for the public”, declared Georgiana Kaczka, Inspector specialist, Cluj Napoca City Hall, during the conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Cluj-Napoca”, organized by Energynomics.

The City Hall of Cluj-Napoca has implemented over 300 digital procedures and has set the year 2030 as the target for the full transition of public lighting to LED bulbs.

For ecological public transport, the city hall is considering European projects of 100 million euros and is also prospecting hydrogen-based solutions, but the latter are at an early stage.
