As more and more companies and municipalities plan sustainable development solutions, a large proportion of projects could focus on the area of photovoltaic developments. Thus, according to a calculation made by Wiren, Timișoara can, in 7-8 years, install photovoltaic panels in the residential, public and industrial environment that will generate about 50% of its consumption needs.
Wiren, a company present in the photovoltaic industry for 10 years, aims to install a new gadget to each solar system installed, through which to monitor even in the residential segment the consumption corresponding to each heavy consumption point in the house. With measured data, we can identify and propose solutions to our clients to improve solar energy consumption and increase their energy efficiency, said Dor Marian, Managing Partner Wiren, at the “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Timisoara” conference, organized by Energynomics.
“We have experience in the construction of large photovoltaic power plants, as well as on installing rooftop equipment, both in the industrial and residential area. The price of electricity is rising, and the trend will continue. The costs of photovoltaic equipment have decreased, reaching 25% of what they were in 2010-2012, so that the economic efficiency of a photovoltaic investment is extremely high. We made some simulations for Timisoara, and in the residential area here has a potential of about 10,000 systems that could be integrated into the network in 8-10 years.

We took as an example a house with a consumption of 350-400 lei per month, which would be suitable for a 5-6 kW photovoltaic installation. At an energy absorption rate of 52% in own consumption, with 48% delivered into the grid, the amortization of this investment would be done in less than 7 years, generating, at an investment of 6,000 euros, over 20,000 euros worth savings, at an annual increase in the energy price of 2%”, he said.
“At the same time, for a company, we took a case of 600 kW (industrial units, retail, etc.) and we reached depreciation in less than 6 years.”
Regarding Timișoara’s total energy consumption, we have tried to estimate the consumption for each individual sector. With a consumption of 30% for the residential sector, 30% for industrial parks, 11.50% for retail, 9% for public administrations and 12% for other sectors, we estimate that in 9-10 years, Timișoara could produce more than 50% of its’ energy from the photovoltaic panels. This can be achieved by installing 10.000 photovoltaic systems in the residential sector, 200-300 systems in the retail sector, around 50-7100 factories or retail shops and everything that means administration.
