Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania S.A. (DEER) signed on Tuesday, March 31, an important financing contract from European funds, in a total amount of 97,896,051.52 lei, for the implementation of the project “Modernization of the DEER remote control system. Implementation of the ADMS system”, within the Sustainable Development Program – Priority 4 – Action 4.5 “Smart energy systems and networks”.
The project represents a strategic investment aimed at modernizing the operating systems of the electricity distribution network by implementing an advanced ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System) solution, across the entire area of responsibility of the company, namely in the 18 counties in which DEER provides distribution services.
Through this investment, DEER will modernize and expand the functionalities of the SCADA system, contributing to increasing visibility and control over the network, as well as improving the quality of services offered to users.
The implementation of the ADMS system brings significant benefits in the context of the energy transition, facilitating the increased integration of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind energy, into the distribution network. At the same time, the system allows for a more efficient management of the variability of production from renewable sources, the optimization of energy flows and the increase of the network’s capacity to take on new producers.
“This project represents an essential step in the process of digitalizing the distribution network and transforming it into a smart infrastructure, capable of meeting the challenges of the energy transition. By implementing the ADMS system, we significantly increase the network’s monitoring and control capacity, improve the quality of services offered to users and support the integration of renewable sources. Investments in technology, together with the competence of our team, are fundamental to building a modern, secure and sustainable energy system”, said Mihaela Rodica Suciu, General Director of DEER, according to TransilvaniaBusiness.
The project also contributes to increasing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions, supporting national and European objectives regarding the decarbonization of the energy sector. By developing smart networks, capable of dynamically responding to the demands of consumers and prosumers, DEER strengthens its role in transforming the energy infrastructure in Romania.
The value of the non-reimbursable financing is composed of 83,211,643.79 lei from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and 14,684,407.73 lei from the national budget, through the Sustainable Development Program.
The signing of this contract represents an essential step in the process of digitalization and modernization of the distribution network, contributing to increasing the reliability of the infrastructure and providing more efficient, secure and adapted services to the future requirements of users.
