The Ministry of Energy has extended until 1 September the public debate on the draft law on measures necessary for the exploitation of offshore wind energy and amending and supplementing certain energy-related legislation. The document was published on 18 July and includes details of the introduction of a support scheme based on Contracts for Difference for the construction and operation of offshore wind power plants with an electricity generation capacity of 3 GW until 2035.

The main responsibilities for coordinating the development of offshore wind energy projects lie with the Ministry of Energy and the Competent Authority for the Regulation of Offshore Petroleum Operations in the Black Sea (ACROPO). More details HERE!

Offshore wind energy is a major tool for Europe’s goal of reducing dependence on fossil fuel imports and decarbonisation, says Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja, and “the wind potential in the Black Sea is huge”.

Interested persons may send written proposals, suggestions, opinions with recommendation value on the draft normative act to the Ministry’s address at 39-41 Academiei Street, sector 1, Bucharest or to the following email addresses: juridic @ energie.gov.ro and office.pieteenergie @ energie.gov.ro until 1 September inclusive.
