Competition analyzes the acquisition of Art Petrol petrol stations by OMV Petrom

The Competition Council analyzes the transaction whereby OMV Petrom Marketing takes over the fuel distribution stations owned by Art Petrol.

Part of the Downstream Oil segment within the OMV Petrom group, OMV Petrom Marketing operates, at the end of 2018, a network of 794 distribution stations on the regional fuel market, under two brands, OMV and Petrom, covering Romania (564 stations), Republic of Moldova, Bulgaria and Serbia and offering a full range of products and services. OMV Petrom Marketing is also active in the wholesale segment of petroleum products, serving a wide range of industrial customers.

Art Petrol SRL owns eight distribution stations located in Bucharest and in Ilfov, Ialomița, Dâmbovița, Teleorman, Giurgiu and Argeș counties. “In accordance with the provisions of the Competition Law (no. 21/1996), this operation is an economic concentration that exceeds the value thresholds provided by the law, being subject to the control of the Competition Council. It will evaluate this economic concentration in order to establish its compatibility with a normal competitive environment and will issue a decision within the terms stipulated by the law”, the institution announced.
