The year 2023 will be dedicated to state aid, both for the evaluation of measures with European funds and for the completion of the cases under analysis by the European Commission, said the president of the Competition Council, Bogdan Chirițoiu.

“This year will be another year dedicated to state aid, and I mean both the evaluation of measures involving European funds and the completion of the cases under analysis by the European Commission, such as Tarom, CFR Marfă, Hunedoara Energy Complex. We will complete a series of investigations and we will continue our efforts to carefully supervise sensitive sectors, such as energy, food products, financial services, and if we find violations of the law, we will intervene and sanction them,” said Bogdan Chirițoiu, quoted by Agerpres.

At the same time, according to a press release from the competition authority, investigations will be completed this year in areas such as energy, electronic/digital archiving services, electronic products, cement, book supply and auctions.

In the energy sector, two investigations will take place, aimed at possible abusive behavior of the companies Distribuție Energie Electrică România SA (member of the CEZ group) and Distribuție Energie Oltenia SA (from the Electrica group), respectively, on the electricity distribution market related to geographical areas for which the two operators hold a distribution license, and in the case of electronic/digital archiving services – a possible anti-competitive behavior of some companies operating in this field.

The investigation on the electronic products market aims at possible agreements for fixing sales prices within the commercial policy implemented by Samsung Electronics Romania SRL in the relationship with its partners, including Altex Romania SRL, Flanco Retail SA and Dante Internațional SA, for household appliances and IT&C products, and the one on the cement market a possible agreement between Holcim (Romania) S.A., CRH Ciment (Romania) S.A. and Heidelbergcement Romania S.A. achieved by dividing the cement production and marketing market in Romania.
